Consider the Student Conservation Association as an outlet for your desire to help conserve our wild places. SCA offers National and Urban Community programs, internships and the chance to be a Conservation Corp member. 

  “[Conservation] Corps members spend 3-10 months devoted to critical environmental issues such as wildfire management and education, trail restoration and maintenance, environmental education, and invasive species eradication. This is a great opportunity to give back while you learn from the land on the land. Join the many SCA Corps volunteers who know, there’s work to be done. Teamwork. Leadership. This is real get-your-hands-dirty conservation.”

 There are projects in the Hudson Valley and the Adirondacks, but also all over the United States. There are: Desert Restoration Corps, SCA Trail Corps, Sustainability Corps and Fire Corps.

Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, the music and environmental festival, is just around the corner! Have you gotten your tickets yet? No?!

Good grief, there’s nothing like the Clearwater Festival! Located at the Croton Point Park, right on the Hudson River, no where else can you find such a happy and conscious crowd of festival goers. And when Pete Seeger performs….it’s the best.

The stages are powered entirely by sustainable energy and have done so for over a decade. It’s a family event where everyone is considered family regardless of your age or ability.

And what is that you say..? Indigo Girls! Suzanne Vega? Oh yes, they both will be performing this year. They will be just two out of overflowing numbers of fantastic national and local performers.

Well, it’s quite a deal when you think about it. Children under 12 years of age attend free of charge and there’s a 15% discount on all festival tickets available to Seniors (62+), Students, and the Disabled. You can go for the day, for both days, or hey! You can camp out at the park overnight!

Summer’s here, and it’s time for the Clearwater Festival, oh yes.

3 days until Sunday 10/10/10.  6,449 events registered.  188 countries around the world.  All great events for the Global Work Party around one simple idea: take action against Climate Change.  From bicycle repair clinics, to tree plantings, to slow food discovery, come and check out one of the local Weschester County events or even organize your own event. 

I will be taking the family to Bluestone Farm Work Party this Sunday, I hope to see some of you there.
