In an attempt to pursuade folks to downsize their automobile carbon footprint, NuRide has come up with a plan to reward people for carpooling, taking public transportation, biking, walking or even telecommuting! "NuRide is the nation's largest rewards program for individuals who take greener trips. A greener trip is when you don't drive solo and instead choose to walk, bike, telecommute, carpool, vanpool, take a subway, train, bus, ferry or even work a compressed week. NuRide is free to join and free to use and is supported by governments, businesses and sponsors."

As individuals gain points for, say.... carpooling five days a week, they recieve coupons with participating businesses. Their site has a video which explains how it works in very simple terms:

Oh, I wish this option was available all over NYS.

Well, there's a section on their website specifically for how to promote NuRide:Promote! To support their program, they track environmental results and  offer information to spread the word!

Park It At The Market is a brilliant campaign, launched through a public private partnership, between NuRide, the city of Austin TX, Whole Foods, and other collaborators, that promotes alternate transportation. Check out this fun short news video about the campaign.
