Like free money? (This is not a trick question.) Between $250-$350 can be yours when buying a new refrigerator or clothes washer this spring.
Thanks to the U.S. Department of Energy's State Energy Program, you can get a $350 rebate for purchasing a high-efficiency refrigerator and /or $250 for purchasing a high-efficiency clothes washer starting March 19.
That's when $3.5 million in federal funds will be available to New York residents to buy these ENERGY STAR appliances. Rebates will be administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
