c 40 cities climate leadership group

20110603034612Mayor Bloomberg just wrapped up a two day conference in Brazil on greenhouse gas reduction for 40 cities around the world. Bloomberg is the chairman of the C-40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, which was founded in 2005 with the aim of reducing carbon emissions.

"If we don't stop right now polluting our world, and continuing to spill greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, then the consequences may very well be irreversible down the road," said Bloomberg.

At the conference the mayor underlined New York City's newly adopted law phasing out the use of #6 and #4 heating oil, two heavy fuels used in less efficient burners, in favor of natural gas and low-sulfur #2 oil and more efficient burners. See the Environmental Leader Story..
