Some of the fun things we do include hikes up Breakneck Ridge, kayaking on the Hudson River, socializing during cocktail hours to meet conservation minded peers in all fields of work, and learning more about conservation through talks with The Nature Conservancy’s staff and scientists. Members can get more involved by joining committees, sharing their time, expertise, and resources for making these exciting programs happen. The group has been around for over 6 years already and is going strong! Our annual benefit is coming up again on March 30, 2011 at Tribeca Rooftop. Proceeds from the evening Wild at Heart: Cooking Up a Sustainable Life will support The Nature Conservancy’s Heart of the Adirondacks project, a 175,000 acre acquisition that safeguards for future generations more than 101 mountains, 314 lakes and ponds, and over 415 miles of rivers and streams, including 48 miles of the Hudson River – 12% of the upper Hudson watershed! Last year more than 500 young professionals attended the fundraiser benefitting The Nature Conservancy’s work in the Coral Triangle, which raised nearly $170,000!! We hope to have similar success this year during a fun evening of cocktails, a silent auction, music, and specially prepared sustainable hors d’oeuvres by celebrity chefs. To find out more and get tickets, visit www.naure.org/wildatheart! Before that, I invite you to come meet us this Thursday night, February 24, and not just take my word for how amazing this group is! We’ll be having a relaxed cocktail hour and sharing more info about the Heart of the Adirondacks at the Black Bear Lodge in New York City from 6:30-9 p.m. Please introduce yourself if you make it there! |
