Popping the Question: Real Man on the Street Interviews

Our roving reporter took it to the streets last week to ask Yonkers residents how they planned to celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 22.

Here are the top responses:

"What's Earth Day?" asked a man waiting for the bus in front of Paxos greek diner.

That was to be expected, actually.

"Excuse me, sir. Do you know what Earth Day is and how do you plan to celebrate it?"

Since this is a family eblast, we can not print what he told me to do with Earth Day!

It was time to find a kinder soul. We spotted her walking into 20 S. Broadway.

"Hi, we're from the City of Yonkers Green Policy Task Force asking people what they are doing for Earth Day on the 22nd?"

Yolanda (no last name) was our favorite customer. Not only did she know what earth day was, but she also stuck our calendar of events from the Yonkers Rising newspaper on her refrigerator and said she planned to bring her three children to the 7:30 a.m. Blessing of the River ceremony at the Science Barge.

Hi Yolanda! The GPTF loves you!

Next, we approached a man named Agustin Benítez who didn't know what Earth Day was but said it sounded nice.

"Maybe my family will go to the park," he offered.

Maybe we'll see him there!

Until next time...
