Energy efficiency is the key to a successful green building project and to obtaining a LEED Certification.  Why?  
Learn about the New Construction LEED Rating system as it applies to small commercial projects.  Two current case studies examples will help to illustrate the benefits and pit falls of the LEED New Construction Rating system and certification process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the organization of the LEED V3 and the LEED  4 rating system
  • List details of the Energy Atmosphere credit category
  • Describe the mandatory pre-requisites in this credit category and the specific requirements for demonstrating compliance under LEED V3 and LEED 4 
  • Describe the Optimize Energy Performance credit in obtaining a LEED certification and the specific requirements for demonstrating compliance with the Optimize Energy Performance Credit

Rick Alfandre, AIA, Leed AP BD+C - President of Alfandre Architecture, PC

Recently completed projects include office buildings, churches and synagogues, retail buildings and spaces, multiple dwellings, restaurants, hotels, manufacturing facilities and custom residences. The founder of Alfandre Architecture, he is expert in the design of maximally energy-efficient, climactically responsive buildings that are solar-ready, and state of the art construction systems that minimize energy requirements. Alfandre has worked closely with the US Green Building Council to grow the New York Upstate Chapter as well as the Hudson Valley Branch's regional programs and has spoken extensively on green building to business and consumer audiences. Mr. Alfandre is devoted to creating spaces and places of lasting beauty, working closely with clients to plan for efficient, resilient and cost-effective projects.
