Referral Discount:  When someone orders their first Bag of Specials and tells us you sent them, we’ll give you $10.00 off 1 Bag or extra food as our Thank You for spreading the word.     The Myth Behind Cage-Free Eggs So many of my clients who aren’t vegan think it is ok to eat cage-free eggs.  They ask, “The hens live good lives don’t they?”  Well, no, they don’t.    According to HumaneMyth.org, hens used for egg production come from hatcheries, where male chicks (because they do not lay eggs) are killed immediately after hatching.  Each year, hundreds of millions of these vulnerable beings are suffocated or ground up alive to produce fertilizer or feed.   Chickens used to produce eggs, including eggs labeled ‘cage-free’, have their beaks forcibly mutilated to minimize the damage they cause each other from being overcrowded together.  At all farms, large-scale and small-scale, laying hens are killed when their production declines, typically by two years of age, as feeding these worn-out individuals cuts directly into profits.  Often the bodies of ‘spent’ hens are so ravaged that they are not even sent to slaughter, and instead are ground into fertilizer or just sent to a landfill still alive.    If allowed to live free of exploitation and slaughter, chickens can live ten years or more.  They protect, feed, and nurture their young, just like other animals. For weekly orders: cancellations after Sunday PM will be charged full price if your space cannot be filled by another incoming order. We hope you understand that HGTG is a small business and that each order takes planning, time and care to prepare for.      Delivery Protocol: Your Bag of Specials with everything included is $150.00.  Depending upon your location there could be an additional delivery charge.  We will let you know when we establish your account. There is approximately a 2 hour range for each delivery.  If nobody will be home at that time, some folks arrange to leave out a cooler with ice packs by their front door in hot months of the year. If your Bag cannot be safely left at your address (nobody home with payment) there will be a $15 re-delivery charge. We don't go up into buildings so please remember to arrange for someone to come down to street level to meet the delivery.  We will call you when nearby.  Bags can be left in the lobby of doorman buildings when we pick up payment.
